About Us-The Bogside Artists

The Petrol Bomber Mural
Our first mural 1994.

Welcome to our blog.

We are The Bogside Artists, a trio of muralists known around the world for our series of large-scale political  murals called  The People’s Gallery.

Tom Kelly, Will Kelly (brother) and Kevin Hasson have been engaged in cross-community work via art-workshops for years and indeed we were pioneers in the field, at least in Derry where we come from.
The blog will also allow us to inform the curious about our life and times back in Derry where our murals are situated and, most importantly, to get feedback from those who read this.

My daughter and I visited The People’s Gallery last week and had the honor to speak at some length with Mr. Kevin Hasson. We gained considerable insight into a situation that had been reported from a very skewed perspective. I purchased a copy of Travels With Li Po and read it on our return flight. It is an awesome read and I would like to purchase at least two additional copies for family members. Can you advise me on availability and procedure? Thanks to Kevin, Tom and William.

  2. On my first real visit to Derry where I stayed for a few days we had a most wonderful time. Having expored all the walls, the churches, the taxi tour we then came on the peoples gallery. This was a wonderful experience and we spent some time talking to the artists who explained in detail why they had decided to do these wonderful murals. The introductary film set the scene for us and explained the ideas behind the murals. This visit is a must for all who visit this historical city. I am looking forward to having the poster framed and hanging it in the centre and using it as a conversation point for all our visitors. We will direct people from here as it is a most worthwhile visit.
